New Towers Being Constructed on Guadalupe and Brazos in Austin11 Mar Team ATX Life Admin
Nearly 40 towers are under construction or are proposed to join the Austin skyline in the coming years. This is up from the 25 towers that were being seen in the news at the very beginning of 2020, and we plan to see more construction plans popping up around the city. Let’s take a look at some of the newest projects added to the table and the new towers being constructed on Guadalupe and Brazos in Austin.
Sixth and Guadalupe
There are currently two projects in close proximity to Sixth and Guadalupe that are in the works. After an Extended Stay America hotel was demolished, construction began on a tower that is expected to be the new tallest building in Austin. The building will have 66 stories, close to 350 apartments, and several thousand square feet of office and retail space. Catty corner to this construction project lies the location of another 60-story apartment and office tower that has been proposed, but no further plans have been released.
14th and Guadalupe
The SXSW Center may have a new neighbor. The plans for a 31-story, mixed-use tower include taking over the building where the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas headquarters resides. The plan currently includes a few hundred residential units as well as space for a restaurant and several offices.
Third and Brazos
There may be a new apartment tower going up near the Hyatt Place hotel. The current warehouse building that stands there would be demolished, but the historical character of the building would be used to create a new tower. The ground floor would feature retail stores and a lobby, and the rest of the plans include several floors for parking and 32 floors for apartments.
Fourth and Brazos
The current location of the Brazos Lofts has been acquired by a property group, and while there have been no proposals submitted to the city yet, there have been talks of an over 800,000 square foot tower being constructed.
Those aren’t the only plans taking shape at Fourth and Brazos. Where Brazos Hall and the 4th & Brazos offices are located may be turned into a new tower. A site plan and a demolition permit have been submitted, but there haven’t been details about what the project would entail.
