Navigating Austin's Music Scene30 Sep Team ATX Life Admin
People flock to the Live Music Capital of the World for a reason. With over 250 music venues in our fair city, visitors, tourists, and residents are drawn to the thriving drumbeat that rhythmically keeps the area going. The music scene has continued to evolve over the years and no matter what style of music speaks to you, you're bound to find more than a few artists that deliver what you’re looking for.
Antone’s Nightclub has been a staple of the East Sixth Street neighborhood for years. Legends have crooned out their hits and some of the more obscure local legends have done covers of those songs within these walls. Antone’s is still keeping blues and soul music alive. With a long list of past performers that include B.B. King himself, there’s no doubt that this stage has a deep history as rich as that of Austin itself.
The Elephant Room is where you’ll hear the wail of live jazz music on any given day. If you decide to watch a performance, you’ll be happy to know that this basement lounge is also ideal for grabbing a cocktail and catching up with friends in a cozy atmosphere.
A venue that may be more famous than the roster of artists flocking to the area for ACL is Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar. Right in downtown Austin, you can find duels going on seven nights a week. It’s easy to meet up with people who get caught up in the infectious energy of the venue on East Sixth Street, and you’ll see people peering in through the windows to get a glimpse of these amazing shows.
On West Fourth Street, there’s a courtyard tucked in between restaurants and bars. The Cedar Street Courtyard can often be overlooked, but it has some great live music performers. With so many great watering holes nearby, it’s easy to grab some drinks, catch up with friends, and listen to the tunes all at one time.
There are more music venues than could ever be named here and more springing up all the time. If you’re looking for a home near some of your favorite local venues, give our team a call. We’re happy to talk about some of the best live performances we’ve seen as well as neighborhoods for you to call home!
